A total of 240 participants entered and finished the study, including 140 teachers and 100 standardized residency training students. The questions consisted of how teaching physician is assessed, the percentage of clinical, scientific work and teaching grant funding/awards/publications of teaching physician, as well as attitude towards training in teaching. Results: Teaching physicians tried to satisfy scientific research or grant funding/awards/publications requirements and failed to apply time on teaching, thus affect the teaching quality. Teaching training can serve as an approach to ensure career growth and advancement in medical education. Teaching physicians should be equipped with teaching skills and educational administration in teaching curriculum development. Conclusions: We recommend the outstanding teaching physician should not only be equipped with clinical skills, but also be full of teaching enthusiasm and methods as well as improved quality of teaching through training.

Abstract: Background: youth is a period of change and adjustment. It is a period of life in which an individual display significant physiological, psychological and social changes that expose them at high risk of reproductive health problems. Consequently, many youth are less informed, less experienced and less comfortable in utilizing reproductive health services. Objective: this study assessed reproductive health service utilization and associated factors among youths in Addis Ababa, Yeka Sub city (Woreda one), Ethiopia. Methods: a community based cross-sectional study was conducted from September 13, 2020 to October 25, 2020. Three hundred seventy eight youths were selected by systematic random sampling technique and interviewed using structured self-administered questionnaire. Data were analyzed using SPSS windows version 24.0. Multiple logistic regression was run to identify variables that predict RHS utilization. P-values <0.05 were taken as a decision line to consider a variable is statistically significant or not. Results: Three hundred thirty nine (89.4%) respondents were properly filled and returned the questionnaire. One hundred sixty two (47.8%) of them were female and 177 (52.2%) of them were male participants. Two hundred fifty two (74.3%) of the respondents had heard about reproductive health services and 87.3% had knowledge about sexually transmitted infection and 42.8% of the respondents utilized RHS. Age (AOR=0.342, 95% CI: 0.124-1.942), marital status (AOR=3.420, 95% CI: 1.088-11.065), living arrangement (AOR=0.142, 95% CI: 0.032-0630), father education (AOR=6.613, 95% CI: 2.363-18.505), mothers education (AOR=0.334 95% CI: 0.133-1.936) and self-determination (AOR=0.294 95% CI: 0.149-0.581) were predictors of youth reproductive health service utilization. Conclusion: irrespective of the youth knowledge/information about reproductive health service (sexually transmitted diseases and family planning), youths reproductive health service utilization is low. Therefore, life skill training for youth, parental scaffolding and communication with youth, and training and updating care providers in the youth center, capacitating the youth center in terms of resources helps to enhance youth reproductive health service utilization.

Abstract: Good practice on modifiable cardiovascular risk factors is based on good knowledge and a positive attitude. The study aims to assess cardiovascular risk and knowledge, attitudes and practices of hypertensive patients in Kinshasa on modifiable cardiovascular risk factors as well as their associated determinants. We conducted a cross-sectional study with 345 hypertensive patients followed at Monkole Hospital and at Saint-Joseph Hospital in the city of Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo from September 2017 to February 2018. The participants were submitted to the WHO-Steps survey. Cardiovascular risk was assessed by the number of deleterious risk factors present in patients. Descriptive and inferential analyzes were performed. The statistical significance threshold was set at p<0.05. The average age of the participants was 62.1±11.2 years with a gender ratio of 1.1 in favor of women. In total, 61%, 56% and 60% of our respondents had, respectively, a low level of knowledge, a bad attitude and an insufficient practice on modifiable cardiovascular risk factors. Good knowledge was statistically significantly linked to education, the medical profession as a source of information, and employment. Only age ≥ 60 years was significantly associated with the right attitude in our patients while good practice was linked to the level of education. The majority of participants (80.3%) had a high cardiovascular risk. Poor knowledge (p: 0.032) and insufficient overall practice (p<0.001) were significantly associated with high cardiovascular risk. The present study showed that hypertension was associated with a high Cardiovascular risk underpinned by a low level of knowledge, a bad attitude and insufficient practice on modifiable cardiovascular risk factors. Therefore, education programs and strategies to positively influence attitudes and practices are essential to reduce the impact of cardiovascular disease and its risk factors in our environment.
